The McLaren driver Jenson Button has said that he is feeling extremely motivated ahead of the start of the 2013 F1 season. The former world champion will be heading into the new season as one of the experienced drivers than the team due to the departure of Lewis Hamilton and the arrival of the 22-year-old Sergio Perez as his replacement. Hence, there is a feeling that Button is likely to be made the number one within the team, despite McLaren saying on many occasions that there is no favouritism within the drivers. Button has said that he wants to win the world championship this season.
His last world championship title came in 2009 when he drove for Brawn GP. The winter testing for the upcoming 2013 season will be beginning shortly and Button has revealed that he cannot wait for it to get started. The Englishman has spent the last few weeks on a break following the end of the 2012 F1 season. Button has said that he has not lost his enthusiasm and excitement ahead of the start of a new season despite being in the sport for many seasons now. The 32-year-old will be one of the experienced drivers on the grid next season.
“I was in Hawaii for part of the break – I managed to fit in running a marathon, doing a lot of miles on my new bike, as well as seeing friends, relaxing and eating well. I feel absolutely refreshed and ready to go! I have to say, I always look forward to the start of a new year – I’ve never lost that enthusiasm throughout my entire career – and I think we have a lot to look forward to during the year ahead,” said Button. Button will be racing in his 14th season.
