Team Lotus has decided against revealing their new car- E22 in the upcoming Formula 1 pre-season test which is going to begin from the 28th of January, 2014 and will continue till the 31st of January, 2014. Instead the team has taken the decision of revealing the E22 in the second Formula 1 test that is going to take place in Bahrain from 19th of February to 22nd of February, 2014.
The technical director of Lotus- Nick Chester said that Lotus took this decision of keeping the E22 under wraps at the first Formula 1 pre-season test because attending the test would not have been ideal for the development and build programme of the car. He also gave a clear indication of the fact that the car will be unveiled at the Formula 1 Bahrain tests where the car will be able to perform its level best in representative circumstances.
Chester also added that the E22 has passed the crash tests that were conducted by FIA. However, only the nose cone crash test has to be completed. Pastor Maldonado and Romain Grosjean (members and the key drivers of Team Lotus) have really applauded the layout of E22 and how new techniques have been utilized to overcome the various technical challenges.
By not attending the Jerez test, Lotus will be missing out on valuable mileage. But Chester has a lot of faith in the true potential of Lotus’s new car- E22 and he is positive that the car will perform well in the future.
Formula 1 rules and regulations have been altered tremendously this season and thus all the teams are busy developing their Formula 1 cars along different avenues. Chester said that the development of E22 has been promising and it will be a fascinating experience for the Formula 1 fans to witness the performance of E22.
